In 1975 -- Seatrain's Jug -- Jack Elliott realized the sport was short on film history. He began borrowing USTA films of old Hambletonians and Jugs and with USTA's blessing converting them to videotape. They became the Great American Trotters and Little Brown Jug Greats of Jack's company, Colorigination.

The Hambletonian Society
The Hambletonian Society is a non-profit organization formed in 1925 to sponsor the race for which it was named, the Hambletonianreg; Stake. The Society encourages and supports the breeding of Standardbred horses through the development, administration and promotion of harness racing stakes, early-closing races and other special events. These include harness racing's most preeminent race, the Hambletonian for 3-year-old trotters, its filly division the Hambletonian Oaks and the sport's championship series, the Breeders Crown®. Stakes and early closing races are events where the total purse is generated by payments from horse breeders and owners (which make their horses eligible to the race) as well as funds added by the sponsor, usually the race track hosting the race.

The United States Trotting Association
The United States Trotting Association was created in 1939 to unify a fragmented Standardbred industry. Prior to that time, the American, National and United Trotting Associations governed harness racing in separate sections of the country, while the American Registry Association was responsible for maintaining the Standardbred Stud Book.

Windsor Raceway
Windsor Raceway officially opened on October 22, 1965 for its first season of harness racing. This date was just one week later than the projected opening date of October 15th. The all-weather Tartan surface, new to the industry and allowing for winter racing, performed according to the best of expectations. It enabled racing in inclement weather (read snow, ice and cold) and earned the approval of horsemen. The Tartan surface remained until the late seventies when it was converted to a spiral graded limestone surface, which continues today.
